Evaluations:

Forensic: With over 20 years of experience working with the offender population and criminal court systems throughout East Texas, her practice is heavily represented by clients referred by criminal defense and prosecuting attorneys seeking evaluation and/or psychotherapy services, consultations, or expert testimony mostly related to sexual risk. She is contracted with numerous agencies, State and Federal, to conduct psychological and psychosexual evaluations and to provide mental health, sex offender, and substance use treatment for individuals on supervision. More specifically, she does psychosexual risk assessments, evaluations of deviant sexual interest, competency to stand trial, violence risk assessments, and sentence mitigation evaluations.

Non-Forensic: Dr. Stanley also offers non-court-related psychotherapy and evaluations services to private clients and other entities. This includes pre-weight-loss surgery (pre-bariatric) psychological evaluations that are often required by either bariatric surgeons or insurance company for surgery candidates. Pre-bariatric surgery evaluations are conducted in compliance with the guidelines of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Dr. Stanley offers pre-employment psychological evaluations, evaluations for suitability to carry a firearm, and occupational interest assessments. Adult and child and adolescent ADHD and/or IQ testing, are also available. Other counseling and psychological services may be available upon request.

Psychotherapy:

When treatment with Dr. Stanley begins, she generally does a psycho-diagnostic evaluation designed to clarify, identify or differentiate a client’s symptoms, improve diagnostic accuracy, and provide insight into the client’s common experiences. This evaluation is completed by gathering detailed information during a diagnostic interview about the individual’s background and through the use of psychometric testing to assess psychological symptoms and personality traits that could be contributing to the client’s problems or dissatisfaction. This type of assessment is done in the early stages of treatment to solidify diagnosis and lay a firm foundation for treatment planning. Her private clients are commonly adults experiencing extreme adjustment problems associated with life changes such as death, divorce, empty nest, mid-life crisis, and other issues, conditions, or situations causing emotional or relationship disruption. Dr. Stanley also sees individuals seeking treatment for impulse control problems including process addictions such as pornography, gambling, hypersexuality, infidelity, or deviant sexual interest and/or behavior.
