Shannon Matthews, Ph.D., LPCS, NCC, joined the Pathways Forensic & Mental Health Services, PLLC clinical team in June of 2024. Originally from Angelina County, Shannon has been a licensed counselor for nearly 30 years, most of which she has worked dually in both the forensic and the academic domains. Forensically, Dr. Matthews has served for decades as a custody evaluator working closely with Court systems throughout East Texas. Academically, she has worked at Central Independent School District as a counselor since 1998, where she had extensive exposure not only to counseling students and teachers, but also with administering and scoring psychometric testing. Dr. Matthews earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1992 followed by her Master of Arts, also from SFASU in 2000. She obtained full licensure as an LPC in 2001, then in 2008 became an LPC Supervisor. In 2019, Dr. Matthews was awarded her Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision through Walden University, Minneapolis, MN. She is a member of the Texas Counseling Association, Texas School Counselor Association, and the American Federation of Teachers. She enjoys counseling with youth, individuals, and families; and is available for marriage and couples counseling as well.
